Scarves

During 2014 I made my first nuno felted scarf and I've been hooked from that moment on. I love the combination of glimmering silk and warm merino that this medium affords. At this time I also became what can only be described as obsessed with the cave paintings of Lascaux and Chauvet. I wanted to re-create the feeling and atmosphere of these caves. I found I was able to use my materials in a really delicate, and painterly way that suggested the forms of the animals in motion.

The Great Hall of Bulls Merino wool, silk chiffon, mulberry silk, tussah silk, rose fibre. My aim was to capture the painterly feel of the cave art and the texture of the walls as well as conveying the atmosphere of the hunt.
